SXSW 2013

I didn’t know how to present to you the reason I won’t be posting for the rest of the week so I figured I’d just show you why. The two pieces of paper above house a list I’ve compiled of bands I hope to see at South By Southwest in the year of our lord, 2013.

It goes without saying that I won’t see all these bands. It’s more a rough blueprint for the adventure to come; it’s like grabbing a bunch of those pamphlets from a hotel kiosk knowing you probably won’t make it to Enchanted Caverns this year.

There already have been some surprises along the way (Zorch, for instance, are not that Zach Hill/Sam Coombes side project that I’m not even sure exists anymore; same with the infamous Weiss, Cameron, Hill jam session; what-up with that?) and there certainly will be a few more before the shithouse goes up in flames. And this year Tiny Mix Tapes finally is hosting a showcase. It’s called Unisex Earplug and features old Gumshoe favorite Spires In The Sunset Rise, Sun Araw, up-and-coming noize act (which means noise-rap, essentially) clipping. and a bunch more. It’s … not off.
