Black Moth Super Rainbow – “Old Yes” MP3/download
What’s that, you say? You didn’t hear/buy/DROOL over Black Moth Super Rainbow‘s Dandelion Gum the first time around (not to mention Tobacco‘s great solo work?)? Well … what’s wrong with you? It’s fantastic, a daring — at the time; many imitators have sprouted since 2007 — sojourn into the neon-pink valleys and peaks of the synth forest, with reassuring vocoder’d vocals softly cooing overtop like a mom singing lullabies through a fan.
It was a beautiful thing, and apparently, it was too good to last, as all copies of BMSR’s magnum opus were destroyed by a flood at GraveFace Records headquarters. Ouch.
As such, Dandelion Gum will be available in a deluxe version with several new tracks, some little-heard demos, some tunes off the Out-Of-Print Drippers 10-inch (I, of course, have a copy) and everything in between. Sounds good to me (literally)!
Wish I could give you more deets but I’m pretty wiped from another ongoing six-day work week and the general demands placed on my by wife and daughter. However, stick with me this week — I’ll be showing you the color-vinyl version of the great new Explosions In The Sky 2XLP (I guess the world isn’t a cold, dead place after all?), blessing you with some more Thee Oh Sees action and maybe even reviewing that split Bruise Cruise 7-inch between Strange Boys and Black Lips. MAYBE. We’ll see I guess.
Until then, chomp on “Old Yes” and check out this video wherein members of Black Moth Super Rainbow reveal their identities (or do they?).
