Panda Bear lets us get our paws on a few new tunes [Daily MP3 #17]

Two new songs:

I’m not much of a “post random videos all day” or “provide secondhand news for people who still don’t know what Pitchfork is” guy, but I make an exception for Animal Collective and its members, Panda Bear, Avey Tare, Geologist and Deakin every time.

Today is a special day anyway, however: Panda Bear has finally unveiled new songs that will reportedly appear on his upcoming follow-up to Person Pitch, Tomboy.

Be sure to download the FULL show above and check out a quick take on two new songs, the first drone-y and atmospheric as the Danse Manatee stuff (and twice as BORRRRING, at least until the beat kicks in

Kinda cuddly ...

; where’s my Panda patience today?), while the second tune revels in dubby num-numness, PB’s specialty, and it totally has left me quivering in excitement for the new record.

Panda Bear has such a keen ear for addictive melodies it’s no wonder his Person Pitch holds together better than even the Animal Collective albums, save possibly Merriweather Post-Pavillion or Here Comes the Indian (the latter of which will absolutely never be repeated again, lending it extra strength).

Looks like this audio genius is picking up right where he left off, warming our hearts and challenging our minds.

Panda Party!
