The Robert Delaney Radio Show – “Go to Hell and Get it Over With” (one-sided etching) – D-tox Records [Lucky 7-inch #30 / Album As Art #23]

LISTEN/DOWNLOAD LEGALLY: The Robert Delaney Radio Show – s/t [MP3]

“A word to the wise to all you FUCKERS out there … you little asshole, neh-neh-neh neh-neh-neh / Get off my asshole, neh-neh-neh neh-neh-neh”

“Right out my dick Ralph, right out my dick / If you let a fart, I’m gonna get sick” …

“You little terds … I mean you little shits, folks / You little shits, get off my tits” … “I’ve gotta clean it out with Robert’s snout, stick it in again” …

The Underwear Blues: “I’ve got the underwear blues, right back to me and you / Your pussy smells like …”

The Robert Delaney Radio Show is absolutely SILLY with lines just like the chestnuts above. This Delaney kid — though I couldn’t glean much info on this fucker, I did find out he was about 10 years old when the material on this 7-inch was dubbed — is pretty weird and all, but this “radio show” isn’t that different from something I would have done as a ridiculously bored teenager in the suburbs.

In fact I probably got weirder. Anyway, don’t judge that Delaney boy; he ain’t right, sure, but he’s damned interesting. I haven’t been able to get this hella-cherry 7-inch off my mind, truth be told … the etched doodles on the flip-side only add to my enchantment.

That and the fact I found this for $1.50.

And remember, this is just one kid, putting on what he sees as a radio show — I believe the call letters are “WSUCK” — as another little shit laughs at ‘im.

Along the lines of Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players, Danielson Famile, found-sound recordings, The Books, The Langley Schools Music Project and a bunch of juvenile rubbish you undoubtedly mumbled to yourself at some point during puberty if you are male, The Robert Delaney Radio Show, released on D-tox Records in 1992, is worth tracking down.

If you can. My money says you can’t if you haven’t already. (That said, if you know of a place we can listen to TRDRS, give Gumshoe a shout. UPDATE: Listen/download the MP3 above for FREE and listen to the ENTIRE 7-inch; this is just fucking amazing, gets better every time I hear it. BIG, sloppy props to Art Into Dust for tipping Gumshoe off!!!)

i just found this link and let me say that i recorded this at scout camp on a tape recorder sometime in the early 70s. i probably can answer any question regarding robert delaney and the 7″ single. (just to brag….i did the etching on the Bside.)

    • holy GOD, I was hoping someone who worked on this would speak up and out! It was such a random 7-inch to find without knowing anything about it and it’s been one of those curiosities that’s stuck in my mind ever since I wrote about it.

well first off: so if you recorded this in scout camp in the early 70s (an even better back story than I imagined, btw) and your name is Chris who is Robert Delaney? And how did this nutty recording end up on a 7-inch on a reputable label?

And, finally: How does one get a QUALITY picture of an etching on black vinyl? I sure as hell didn’t succeed in this case!

      thanks for reachin’ out!
