Jason Alexander’s FANTASTIC McDonald’s commercial!!! [Curiosities #25]

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA OH HOLY GOD THIS IS RICH, THIS IS FANTASTIC THIS IS …. BETTER THAN ORANGE DRINK!

Yah say that JUST ONCE ya want your hamburger HOT and your lettuce and tomato COOL an’ CRISP? YOU GOT IT!!!“

OK, so imagine you’re Jason Alexander in the ’80s. Seinfeld hasn’t made you a mega-star yet and times are tough. What better way to supplement your acting career than to star in a peppy, over-the-top McDonald’s commercial?

alexander, jason

Lettuce, AND tomato? I guess it WILL dull the taste of cow feces rampant in every McD's burger ...

And this isn’t just any McDeez Nutz commercial; this is so quintessentially 1980s you can almost hear PopRocks crackling in the background. And why is Lettuce and Tomato considered such a novel addition to a hamburger? Were people really thinking this was a revolution in super-insular world of hamburgers? Weirdness …

Alexander? He’s fully absorbed into the role. I don’t know if he did any method-acting preparation for this ad, but he’s more enthusiastic about hamburgers — lemme get this straight; the McDLT has lettuce and … AND tomato? HOLY GOD — than any human has the right to be.

He runs down the street, recruiting random streetwalkers — literally, not figuratively — for a sweaty, West Side Story-style musical sing-a-long, looking like anything BUT the guy who will eventually revolutionize sitcom TV with his neurotic worry-wart acting.

But I digress: This video just proves how FUCKING AWESOME the ’80s were. Imagine a time when ad executive are so disconnected from reality they approve commercials like this … seems like a gold era, no?

Now if I could just get more footage of that pre-Seinfeld sitcom Alexander was in, I could really start diggin’ some dirt on this guy …
