Are you as excited for the Pavement reunion as I am?
Well I hope not, because I actually don’t really care unless the Stephen Malkmus-fronted group play “Stop Breathing” over and over in different permutations. I’m not a huge fan (I prefer Malkmus’ solo stuff, actually), and I will forever be cursed for this like the runt of the indie-rock-reviewer litter, the rotten apple in the underground bunch.
What makes it worse is that they’re from my hometown of Stockton, Calif., and it makes all the sense in the world for me to slurp up their indifferent, slacker-dude style like hot noodles with red sauce. Somehow, I’ve failed to get with the program (and there’s even a dude named Spiral Stairs in the band).
But there’s still hope for you, oh sacred indie-fied reader! Get ready for the upcoming Pavement reunion by watching the group’s Slow Century, a doc with tons of live footage, interviews and more (check out the first 5 minutes or so above and go HERE for the full film).
